BEGINNING TO ADVANCED IMPROVISATION
From The Theatre Student wanting to hone their acting skills, The Business Man who wants to communicate better in the work environment, The Child who wants an outlet for keeping the creativity alive…Improvisation is the ultimate tool for expression, communication and just plain fun!. These workshops are fantastic for:
- Businesses who are looking for Team Building and Communication in the Workplace. Improvisation classes can be used as role playing in the work environment.
- Elementary & High Schools: Fun for children or teenagers K-12! Improv is a great way to have children of all walks of life explore creativity, and imagination. Also it gives children and teenagers’ self esteem and positive responses. So important for the younger adult.
- Universities: Be it an extra added tool for the Student Actor, or a way for the Student Lawyer to be more convincing in front of a jury…Our Improvisational workshops can fit the need of any Business, Theatre or Law University.
CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOP
“Character work is one of the forefront’s in doing intriguing Improvisational Theatre.” Shaun Landry Artistic Director of Oui Be Negroes says. “You can play yourself till you drop, but interesting characters, in clear environments makes for funny and entertaining Improv Theatre.” This workshop will create a foundation for Beginning to Intermediate Improv actors. Basic physical theatre techniques and games will be used to achieve strong character choices on-stage.
WRITING THROUGH IMPROVISATION
Using advanced improvisational techniques along with comedic writing theories to explore sketch writing, this workshop is intended to turning the phrase “Man what a great Improv sketch…what did we do?” to “Man what a great Improv sketch…I’m writing it!”
AFRICAN AMERICANS IN COMEDY:
Mrs. Landry discusses the history of black male and female comedians from Vaudeville to present day and the effects of African Americans on present day improvisation and Comedy. Extensive audio and video archival material used. Not your average boring lecture, Mrs. Landry keeps it light and fun…while bringing to light the fascinating history on the Black Performer. This lecture is geared towards Elementary Schools, High Schools and Higher Learning Colleges and Universities.
THE BUSINESS OF THE IMPROV BUSINESS:
How do you get your improvisational or Sketch Comedy Company seen? Are posters and flyers enough? Landry and Summers theories are base “If you do not promote…you are doing Theatre to The Wind.” This lecture gives useful and helpful hints on promoting your theatre company (be it improvisation or Theatre) with a little or non existent budget. This discussion is fantastic for Universities with a strong Theatre Department…or your upcoming Theatre Festival!
